![]() ...is our family's all-time favourite Christmas Movie. Certainly more mid-century than mid-century modern in flavour, it yet fits in with the retro elements of my take on mid-century/mid-century modern which aims to be a harmonious mix of both. This year, we decided to include lametta (angel hair or icicles according to individual interpretation) in our Christmas tree decor details and recreate the Bailey family's Christmas tree glimpsed in the film - never more meaningfully than when a bell on the tree rings and Zuzu declares, "Teacher says, "Every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings!"" So here are a couple of photos from our It's a Wonderful Life! inspired tree, as recently posted on our Instagram page. ![]() I love the way @isabellasynekherd_photography has captured the movement of the bell in the above photo, with the focus in the photo on the left being the glitter on the bauble. As advent progresses further, keep tuned for further mid-century at the movies or musical references along with photography of our two very distinct trees: (i) a traditional Norway spruce style tree decorated with It's a Wonderful Life touches and mid-century traditional inspiration. This tree is positioned in our upstairs lounge (we have a quirky 70s layout with a partially upside-down layout to the house) (ii) a very different downstairs tree with more of a mid-century modern-come-contemporary approach, in the downstairs dining room and a very different colour scheme. Coming up next!
